Melissa has been dancing most of her life and is now a wonderful dance and pilates instructor.
She came to me in November of 2015 with intense hip pain that she had been dealing with for 18 years.
She was experiencing anterior hip pain and tightness in both hips as well as low back pain. She had trouble sleeping for more than an hour at a time because of the pain.
Melissa shared with me that the pain was so great that if she had to sit up-right or drive the car for even 15 minutes, she would want to cry because the pain was so bad. She remembers that even back in high school she would try to get comfortable by slouching in her chair to keep her body as straight as possible.
She tried physical therapy with no lasting improvements. Her doctors did not know what else to do for her. They recommended that she quit dancing and they could possibly look into surgery.
So, on November 17th of 2015 we did her first treatment. The assessment showed issues with the hips and neck as well as tight shoulders. She noticed some improvement immediately following her first session.
After dealing with pain for over 18 years, within 4 sessions Melissa came in with no specific issues or pain!
Because of schedules, we were not able to meet again for three weeks. This is longer than I like to wait between sessions, but when I did see her the feedback was great!
Melissa reported that she was feeling less pain and cramping, and had not had pain in the hip flexors (front of hip) for 2 weeks, and she was sleeping better.
Let me remind you – she had been dealing with this pain for 18 years!
Over a month later she came in for her third visit. Again, longer than I would have liked BUT she knew how the treatments helped and said overall the pain was significantly less.
We continued treatments every 3 to 4 weeks and by March of 2016 (less than 4 months and only 4 treatment sessions) she came in and said she really didn’t feel like she had any specific pain!
Melissa is now on a monthly maintenance treatment program and continues to feel good!
With her work and life style she has occasional aches and pains in the neck, hips or shoulders, but the chronic restrictive pain that she had the first time I saw her has been eliminated!
